| Why? |
They were always best friends. In many cases best friends are one day together - statistically proved. I think they are the only ones who could understand eachother perfectly.
Their character is very similar. They both play football (season 1) even in the same club. So they spent much time together. Even when Sora left football and started to play tennis she still stays sporty and not artistic (like Matt).
Sora gets along very well with Tai's sister Kari and she knows how to calm his family down.
Tai's love for Sora never died (and we don't know what happens with his love 25 years after season 2). Also Sora is still sometimes worried about Tai (although she is officially with Matt).

Sora is obviously in love with Matt, it's no chance for her to break up with Matt and return to Tai (Matt and Sora get married later).
