Odaiba Elementary School

In this section I am going to talk about fictional elementary Odaiba school. In season 2 all the main Digidestined go there. There were also first genaration in there, but in season 1 they never actually talked about their school, the only thing connected to the school was probably their camping trip, where they first went to the Digiworld. Plus there was a teacher that was shown in both seasons!
First I will introduce you the whole Japanese school system. As you already know systems all around the world are not the same!

As you can see Elementary school begins at year six and ends at year 12. Elementary and Junior high schools are compulsory education, but high school is not. Some characteristics:

° Children who have their 6th birthday on or before April 1 enter the first grade of elementary school of that year.
° School year starts in April and ends in March.
° For Japanese nationals, six years at elementary school and three years at junior high school (total nine years) are compulsory.
° Although foreign nationals are not subject to Japanese compulsory education, they may enter local elementary/junior high schools if they wish.
° Some public elementary, junior high or high schools have developed an environment to accept foreign nationals and/or Japanese children returning from abroad. Contact the municipal office in the ward (or city, town or village) where you reside for more information.
° After graduating from junior high school, children may choose to continue their education to high school and then to university or to find employment.

Odaiba Elementary School

And this is the school from Digimon 1 and 2. On the outside it looks pretty normal. Probably like every school. They have a hedgerow (so that little children don't run away xD joke). It's a pretty big school. There is also a little bridge that connects two buildings. I am wondering if the school is always opened. Digidestined go there everytime they want. I know that there are some night (or afternoon) classes, but the computer room they use to get to the Digiworld is never taken.

Classrooms are nothing special, they are probably pretty much the same almost all over the world. X) I forget to mention that the Digidestined are in 5th (Davis, Kari, T.K.), 3rd (Cody) and 6th (Yolei) grade and if you check the first picture on this site you can see that their grades match their ages . Digidestined from season 1 aren't in elementary school anymore. They are in Junior High school (except Joe, he is already in high school ;D).

They also have wardrobes for their shoes. They are all open so that someone could really steal their shoes, hihi. (In my school they steal stuff even from a closed wardrobe, freaking ninjas!) Their school shoes are all the same. Guys have white and blue shoes and girls have white and pink ones.

In front of their school they have a school yard. Davis plays soccer there with his friends (schoolmates or soccer team) - well we only see him doing that in the first episode ...

They also have a large gym. Girls and boys don't have sport education together. Girls are doing more girly things (like dance ...) and boys are playing some sports (basketball ...).
