The digimon king & queen

Rika and Ryo are both great Digimon TCG (trading card game) players. Rika is the best girl player and Ryo is the best boy player. That's why they're also called the Digimon Queen and King.

Digimon TCG is obvious one of the things Rika and Ryo have in common. And I know what they say about people that have too much things in common - they'll get bored eventually. It's better if two people are completly different (like Rika (fighting soul) and Henry (peace maker)), the differences attract each other. In my opinion that's something that's probably right in the beginning. But I think two totally different people can't stay together for too long, the differences are just too big! Believe me, I know that. I'm not sure why I wrote this, it's just something that was going on in my head and I had to write it down. I'll probably make another section about what Rika and Ryo have in common! :p

However, Rika and Ryo are the best in Digimon Card Game. Let's see some things that confirm this!

RIKA - THE DIGIMON QUEEN
- She's a fighter, she uses cards all the time to help Renamon fight. We know that practice makes perfect and we also know that other Tamers also use their cards but not that often (do you think I'm wrong?) - at least not in the begining.
- Kazu once said (german version) that boys in his school run away when Rika starts to attack (in TCG of course :p).
- Rika won a TCG tournament, she even got a cup! When she was asked how she prepaired herself for the game she said: 'I didn't. It was easy.'
- After the tournament she went back home and suddenly many Digimon appeared around her, all wanting her to be their Tamer, to help them become stronger or digivolve. One of them even calls her the 'Digimon Queen'. Rika than yells that she only wants one powerful Digimon and Renamon appears.
- Some random kids recognise her as the 'Digimon Queen' on the street.
- Kazu calls Rika the 'Digimon Queen' in the 28th episode.
- Rika calls herself the 'Digimon Queen' in the 50th episode.

RYO - THE DIGIMON KING
- He's also a fighter, he's brave enough to leave his life and go to the DigiWorld with Cyberdramon.
- Cyberdramon wanted Ryo to be his Tamer because he needed someone that could make him stronger. (it's what we get to know in the 'Message in the Pocket' CD)
- He's great with cards. In the 29th episode he uses the card called 'Goliath', a very good card, a very rare one. Kazu (?) asks him to trade this card but he says that only the best tamers can have it (not very humble ... xD).
- He's also known as the 'Legendary Tamer'.
- He's supposed to be better in Digimon TCG than Rika. At least that's what Kazu thinks. In one version he even defeated her on a tournament.
- He's so good that he's even famous because of that. When he comes back from the DigiWorld a bounch of reporters 'attack' him and his father and ask him if he was in the DigiWorld.
- In the 28th episode Kazu and Kenta recognise his name and they're very happy to meet the legendary Tamer. Even Rika recognises him and so do Takato and Henry.
- He calls himself the 'Digimon King' in the 50th episode, after Rika calls herself the 'Queen'.
- In the 'Message in the Pocket' (soon more about it) - one year after Digimon Tamers ended - he says that he's still playing cards but he'll probably find another game (Rika on the other hand isn't going to the tournaments anymore).

So Rika and Ryo are both very good TCG players, which helps them to be good fighting Tamers too, since the cards mean a lot in this third season (but not everything!). And why do I concider the fact that they're King and Queen as an evidence? Well, we all know that kings and queens belong together, don't they? :p And if this fact didn't matter, the producers could just leave the names. Ryo and Rika could still be the best but they didn't have to be called the King and the Queen, am I right? This TCG connection wouldn't be THAT obvious!

In episode 50 they both say something about being the Queen and King. You can find it under Comparison, but I dicided to copy/paste it here too! :p

Henry said something about saving the world and if others had imagined this would end up like this.
Rika: How could I? I was too busy calling myself the Digimon queen.
Sakuyamon: You believed it, of course.
Ryo: Why not, you are the queen. Second only to the Digimon king!
Rika: Give me a break!

German version (original?):
Rika: I'm a Digimon queen, if I play cards ... But here, it the reality ...
Sakuyamon: Rika, it's ok.
Ryo: You ARE the Digimon queen, Rika. But don't forget, I'm the Digimon king!
Rika: Aaah, shut up!

Ryo kinda teases her about this Queen-King thing. It's cute how he puts her next to him because they're 'Digimon Royalty'. xD So, what have you learned today? Queens and Kings go together! At least that's what Kings think ...
