Ryo's mysterious appearance .. who is he?
If you saw the second Digimon Movie (Childrens Wargame), Digimon Adventure 02 - Episode 23 or if you ever played WonderSwan Games, you will know that Ryo appears in all of them. I have not studied about Ryo's mysterious appearance, I'll just introduce you some facts about him. I'll take a better look in him later! So ... some facts!

Digimon Tamers
Ryo first appears in the show in the 28th Episode - Blame it on Ryo. Rika, Kazu and Kenta come to this mysterious world and find a clock, that isn't working. Rika fixes the clock (even though two Digimon tell her not to do it), which awakes an evil Digimon that only attacks when the clock is working. The Digimon is too strong for Rika's Kyuubimon. Suddenly a dragon-like Digimon appears and defeats the beast. It's Cyberdramon, Ryo's partner. And then comes Ryo, out of nowhere! :p

Before Digimon Tamers was even designed the producers already knew who one of the characters in the show will be. They wanted the popular game character Ryo to be one of the Tamers, even though it was hard to put him in it, because he wasn't originally coming from the Tamers' dimension. :p He was a character in the game that lived in the same time as the Digidestined from the first season. That's why Ryo somehow travels through dimensions but that's something I didn't check yet, I just read it on several pages!
However, the personality of game-Ryo and Tamers-Ryo isn't the same. Tha Tamers-Ryo is supposed to be more cool and confident than the game-Ryo. But OK, that's just what I've read, I haven't played any of the WonderSwan games ... yet!

Digimon Tamers - The Movie
In the fifth Digimon movie Ryo doesn't appear. But he does appear in the sixth movie - The Runaway Digimon Express.

Evil spider-like Digimon are attacking the real world. The gate to the DigiWorld is open and the evil Digimon keep coming to the real world. Tamers are overfloated with them and there comes their backup! Justimon suddenly appears and helps them save the world once again! After they all defeat the evil ones, they go to Rika's birthday party. Not sure if Ryo would be invited if he didn't come to help them. xD But OK, he goes there too, he's in a very good mood, chatting with Kazu.

Childrens Wargame
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Diablomon is an evil Digimon who starts to destroy the network. He eats data, which causes many problems in the real world - all that needs a computer to work, goes mad. Taichi (Tai) and Koushirou (Izzy) get a call from the Digiworld by their Digimon, who tell them the Digimon is evil and needs to be stopped. So Agumon and Tentomon go in the network and fight him. Gabumon and Patamon join them later and the whole fight is watched by random people through their computers.

RYO'S APPEARANCE:
Some people who are observing the fight are shown and so is RYO. He's somewhere in the nature with a computer. So he's one of the many (even Miyako (Yolei) from the second season is there) who observe the fight between Digimon. He's not hard to recognise, he has the same haircut and similar clothes as in later Digimon Tamers episodes.

Digimon Adventure 02, Episode 23
KEN ICHIYOUJI'S PAST:
Ken, who was the first opponent of the Digidestined in the second season, used to call himself 'Digimon emperor' (Digimon Kaizer). He thought Digimon were just a game and he treated them with no respect. After his Digimon Wormmon died and he realised what he did wrong, he tried to remember how and when everything had started.

RYO'S APPEARANCE:
After Ken's brother died, Ken visited the Digiworld and met Wormmon, his Digimon. In the end of the 23th episode (Digimon Adventure 02) Ken remembers how he was once in the Digiworld with Wormmon and (!) RYO. They were in a desert attacked by Gizamon. Ryo was there without a Digimon, but he was there. He was wearing the same clothes as in the Wonder-Swan Game 'Brave Tamer'.

Wonderswan Games

Digimon Anode/Cathode Tamer:
The game is the beginning of Ryo's fight against Milleniummon.
After the Digidestined from the first season beat Machinedramon and Kimeramon, the two Digimon digivolve together to Milleniummon. He has the power to manipulate the time and he awakes Devimon, Etemon, Myotismon and Piedmon from death. They kidnap the Digidestined and their Digimon but Agumon escapes and contacts Ryo with Gennai's help. So Ryo must beat the four evil Digimon, rescue the Digidestined and their Digimon and fight against Milleniummon in the end.

Digimon Tag Tamers:
Ryo visits Ken from Digimon Adventure 02 and they watch the fight between Diablomon and Omegamon together. Once Diablomon is defeated, Veemon appears in Ken's room and takes Ken and Ryo to the Digiworld. The Digiworld is almost destroyed and Ryo (with Veemon) and Ken (with Wormmon) must fight some evil Digimon and find the one who destroyed the Digiworld. In stores they can choose some other Digimon to help them win the battle.

D-1 Tamers:
Ryo had killed Milleniummon and now he participates in the D1 monster fighting tournament. But it appears that Milleniummon is still alive and Ryo has to win the tournament and defeat the evil Digimon once more.

Brave Tamer:
The fight against Milleniummon continues. Milleniummon's forth level - ZeedMilleniummon - against Ryo. Ryo beat Milleniummon's lower levels and after he beat MoonMilleniummon he found himself in an unknown part of the Digiworld. But he meets Monodramon there (who is also his partner in Digimon Tamers show) and has a power to find himself some Digimon from Digimon Adventure/02 and Digimon Tamers to help him defeat his opponent.

Cyberdramon
Ryo is a character designed by WonderSwan Digimon games, that's why he originally doesn't have a partner (the player is playing Ryo and he chooses who he wants to have for his partner). In Digimon Tamers series this wouldn't work and Cyberdramon was popular enough to be chosen for his partner.

WonderSwan games also suggested that Cyberdramon should be a crazy Digimon obsessed with finding a strong opponent. The reason why Cyberdramon is so wild and out of control is because in the end of Brave Tamer Monodramon and ZeedMilleniummon kinda fused together to CyberDramon. Evil VS good!
