Ryuki Cosplay

A few months ago I actually got an email from a Ryuki fan telling me that they were cosplaying Ryo and Rika and want to share the photos with me. Since I never get any fanmails (!!) I was really happy and excited and of course I promised to publish the photos here. Because I didn't want the whole thing to come out impersonal, I asked the two cosplayers, Dani (Ryo) and Leslie (Rika), to answer a few questions for me. It was late at night and my brains didn't work well anymore, so I might have forgotten a few important questions. But I'm sure they'd love to answer them for you too, if you have any! :3

Let's see the two amazing german cosplayers (with a whole bunch of photos, that made me mad before I've decided which ones to take!!).

Me: Why did you decide to cosplay Rika and Ryo?
Ryo: Leslie and me (Rika and me, however) are huuuge fans of the two characters so it was easy to decide to cosplay them (: And for myself I can say that Ryo is my favourite character of all Digimon seasons.

Me: How did you decide on who will cosplay Ryo, since you're both girls?
Ryo: As I said before, Ryo is my favourite character and I just don't like to cosplay girls. (Though Rika is a very beautiful and interesting girl ^^)

Me: How long did it take to make your costume? Did you make it by yourself?
Ryo: Yes, I made it by myself. It took me about.. uhm, I don't know, a few days. (I worked almost every day on it.) If I could sew (with a sewing machine), it would have been a lot easier.. <__<
*no sewing machine!!*

Me: Which part was the hardest and which one was your favourite to make?
Ryo: The hardest part was the stupid brown leather thing with the shoulder armor on it. As I began to make it, I thought it won't work, but somehow I got it. xD My favourite part was the hair because you didn't have to sew anything x__x
*what the hell is that shoulder armor anyway?*

Let's stop by the hair for a second. I've seen many cosplay hair and I must say, this one looks really good.
Me: How did you make the hair? xD
Ryo: Uhm .. lots of hairspray and a blow-dryer. xD That's the secret.
*i wonder if Ryo does that too ...*

Me: What event did you go to?
Ryo: We went to the german "Leipziger Buchmesse" and to a private fan-meeting .. Tomorrow we'll be at the "Dokomi" in Duesseldorf.
*that tomorrow is obviously not tomorrow but it was when I got the answers*

Me: How many other Digimon cosplayers were there in your group?
Ryo: There were lots of people who cosplayed Digimon, I don't know how many. Most of them were cosplaying season one and two, but there were Tamers and Frontier characters, too.
Rika: I guess it was about 20 on the whole.
*something i found out from the email not interview - believe it or not, not all Digimon cosplayers are very nice!*

Me: Are you a big Ryo+Rika fan?
Ryo: Do I really have to answer this question?

*dramatic silence is made by me*

Me: How did you find DigiRoyalty? *this, people, is truly an exclusive interview for DR!*
Ryo: I found it on google.. I guess. I don't know anymore.. But I believe it was google. Anyways, I don't care how I found it, I'm just glad THAT I found it. Because it's the beeest Ryuki page I know. (:
*really proud face. *sniff**

Now to Rika, let's see the cosplay from her point of view.

Me: Why did you cosplay Rika and Ryo?
Rika: Because they're one of my favourite characters, of course (; I've always enjoyed watching Digimon and, especially, Digimon Tamers! Another thing is, that those two gave us the chance to make a really nice partner Cosplay so it's even more fun wearing it together.
*Tamers FTW*

Me: How long did it take to make your costume? Did you make it by yourself?
Rika: I cannot say this, really. I bought most of it, including the T-Shirt. But the rest took me approximately 4 hours.

Me: Which part was the hardest and which one was your favourite to make?
Rika: The hardest one may be the leather card box (and the faked Digimon Cards!) which I sewed (or, regarding the Cards, 'glued') with my own hands x__x poor ones~ My favourite one was the wig because my Renamon helped me by wearing it (x
*now imagine Renamon helping Rika with her wig .....*

Me: Which costume was easier to make - Rika's dress or her everyday outfit?
Rika: Her everyday outfit, without a doubt o: The dress took us (again worth mentioning: awesome Renamon <3) a whole weekend and some hours after school while she's sewed the better part of it (I didn't have a sewing machine at this time, alas ._.)

Me: How long did it take for you to make that super-special-awesome photo of the falling cards?
Rika: It were just some minutes required to take that shot. The photographer, a Ken Cosplayer, first didn't believe that this would actually work, but I disabused him 8D

Me: Where were the photos where you're wearing the dress taken? On the event you went?
Rika: On the April's (non-official) event in Duesseldorf, indeed (:

It was really hard to choose which photos to publish and these here are just the ones I liked the most (I might have overseen a really good one so don't hesitate to take a look at the rest of them - at the end of the page there's a link to the gallery!!!). Yes, there is one with Rika and Ironman. It's Ironman people, how the hell could I resist a photo like that!
Click on the pictures to make them bigger! Since this is a Ryuki shrine I only posted those with Rika and Ryo (and Ironman), in their gallery there are more photos with other characters (like Mimi and Angewomon and even Piedmon!). I loved them all but couldn't publish every one of them. x) ENJOY!
